XIX век. Фотографии Китая будто фотографии другой планеты от британского фотографа итальянского происхождения Феличе Беато (1832 - 1909). Считается что Беато - один из первых фотографов, работавших в Китае. Занесло его туда в 1860 г., то есть во время финала Второй Опиумной войны 1856 - 1860 гг. в составе англо-французской военной экспедиции. Также Беато был фотографом на Крымской войне. Кроме того, он работал в Индии, Японии, Судане, Греции, Египте и ещё много-много где. Такой своего рода британский фото-Верещагин, только холодный и статичный. И тоже везде и всюду.
